Seagulls are intelligent birds and often have to put up with Crows harassing them. However, they do show patience and will share with their neighbour. I was lucky enough to have a Seagull couple nest on my window ledge in my downtown office for several years and witness the hatching of the eggs and the babies learn to fly. Seagulls mate for their lifetime which can span to 20 to 30 years. It is illegal to disturb gulls as they are protected under the Migratory Birds Convention Act in Canada.
